Kraken Print

My print was inspired by ocean animals and the growing issue of pollution in our oceans. To emphasize the environmental message, I chose to reuse a discarded styrofoam takeout container as my printing plate. I indented my design directly into the surface of the styrofoam using a pencil, creating a form of relief printing. Once the image was etched, I rolled ink over the raised surface and pressed it onto paper to transfer the image. This method not only gave my print a unique texture but also aligned with my goal of reusing materials to comment on sustainability. By incorporating both ocean imagery and repurposed waste, my print draws attention to the fragile state of marine ecosystems and the impact of human consumption.
