Leaf Series Prints

For this print, I repurposed a used Styrofoam takeout container as my printing plate, pressing my design into the soft surface to create an indented relief. My intention was to reuse discarded materials in order to emphasize the theme of sustainability and environmental awareness. The imagery in the print was inspired by the variety of leaves I observed around my neighborhood, each shape and texture reflecting the natural beauty in everyday surroundings. After carving the design, I rolled ink over the surface, allowing the raised areas to pick up the color while the indented lines remained clean. I then pressed paper onto the inked surface to transfer the image. This printmaking method highlights how meaningful art can emerge from simple, reused materials.
